Letter from the President
Greetings from Las Vegas,
The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) is the world's largest anti-fraud organization and premier provider of anti-fraud training and education. Together with more than 85,000+ members, the ACFE is reducing fraud worldwide and inspiring public confidence in the integrity and objectivity within the profession. The Las Vegas Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE-LV) is the local Chapter of Southern Nevada based out of downtown Las Vegas and is comprised of over 250+ local members who are dedicated to fighting fraud and increasing the fraud prevention knowledge within our community. I encourage all CFE & Associate members of the ACFE residing or working in Southern Nevada to join our local Chapter by completing our membership application, which is located under “Join” on our website’s home page.
In 2021, the ACFE-LV Chapter will continue to offer twenty (20) hours of continuing education credits (CPEs) to our members as part of their annual dues. These 20-CPE hours to include ethics, meet the annual requirements to maintain the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification as well as inform our members and guests on a variety of important fraud topics. Due to COVID-19, all ACFE-LV Chapter meetings and events in 2021 will continue to be held virtually via the Zoom virtual meeting platform, until further notice. Meeting dates, times, topics, and registration links can be found under the “Upcoming Meetings” section under “Meetings” on our website’s home page.
Despite the many challenges of 2020, our Chapter remains strong. Chapter membership (CFEs, Associates, & Affiliates) is at an all-time high. Our Chapter was also able to support the ACFE Foundation’s Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship Program as a Diamond sponsor. We adjusted from in person meetings to a virtual environment ensuring members were able to receive their annual 20-CPE hours. We continue to move forward with our digital capabilities with enhancements to our Chapter’s website, membership and training records, and electronic payment processing for dues/events.
2021, will also be an “Election Year” for our Chapter at our September Annual Meeting/All-Day Training Event. If you are a CFE member interested in serving on the Board of Directors (BOD) for 2021-2023, please review our Chapter’s By-Laws and reach out to us to learn more. The current BOD welcomes those that are interested in stepping up to lead the Chapter into the future and encourages new and tenured members alike to self-nominate for a position on the BOD this September.
