Letter from the President
My name is Joe Throneberry, President of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners – Las Vegas Chapter (ACFE-LV). I would like to welcome you to the ACFE-LV 2019/2020 year!
The Chapter’s mission is to serve our local community with the interactions of our members and the expansion of knowledge to improve fraud detection and deterrence. We are fortunate to have among our Chapter members’ representatives of law enforcement, government, investigative services, gaming, insurance, banking, public and private accounting and auditing, academia, as well as many other industries. The Chapter’s goal is to provide our membership with peer interactions in an environment for personal and professional growth and development. As an active Chapter member, you will have an opportunity to obtain your entire yearly CPE requirements via high quality programs and content at an affordable value and network face-to-face with over 150+ members.
Currently, the Chapter has approximately 150 members, and we are always looking for more. There are several types of ACFE memberships and more information can be obtained from www.acfe.com. To join the ACFE-LV Chapter, please see our Membership Application on our webpage. The Las Vegas Chapter’s annual dues (October 1, 2019 to September 30, 2020) is $175.00. Prorated dues are available by contacting our Chapter Treasurer. (Luncheons: $30, Half-Day: $60, Annual Conference: $150). Our four quarterly two-hour lunch meetings offer a great value for CPE credits (16 CPEs to include 2 Ethics CPEs.) In addition, we host a full-day Annual Meeting & Conference each September (9-CPEs) and a half-day training each April (4-CPEs). At each of our events, food and beverages are included.
The Chapter is going digital. Please look for updates on our website as we keep you informed of events and opportunities for your involvement. Please join our social media accounts and look for your training CPE certificates to be sent via electronic format. By participating or volunteering your expertise and becoming more involved in our Chapter, you will not only make valuable industry contacts that can benefit you and your institution, but you will also sharpen your skills.
As in year’s past unless otherwise posted, we will continue to have our meetings at the Main Street Station Hotel & Casino located at 200 N. Main St. Las Vegas, NV 89101, in the heart of downtown Las Vegas. Please check our webpage for dates/times and remember to RSVP via our webpage www.acfelv.org.
I would like to thank each of our members for their support in making this past year a great year. I am very appreciative of our Board members who work hard in leading and planning events for our Chapter. Thank you to all of you!
If you have any questions or would like to assist with an upcoming event or activity, please contact me. Thank you for your interest in our Chapter and we appreciate your support of our organization.
I look forward to meeting you soon!
